“Eggplant”

(2008-2012)

Kim started her fascination with technology and internet culture at the early age of 14.

Growing up with the inception of core sites like 4chan (2003), YouTube (2005), Tumblr (2007), and Chatroulette (2009), she was inspired by the first wave of “Internet Memes”.

Her online identity “eggplant” was a screen name and presence.

It physically manifested as an oil pastel illustrated paper bag mask.

She created a series of short videos hosted on YouTube with unsettling dances and deadpan actions, with catchy soundbites.
